BioHis parent's divorce an unavoidable reality, Slash went with his mother to visit his father, whom he hadn't seen since he moved to the states. While in CA, he'd mostly puttered around with friends and their bikes, and had just gotten into guitar playing. He brought a new one he'd just bought as one of his few pieces of luggage and was content to busy himself with it while his parents argued.
Only a few days after arriving, he noticed the sickness. Just a cough from his father, a few deaths blamed on food poisoning, then it all went out of control. In time most of his flat was decimated, no one around. His father died horribly, but as he was rushing his mother to the hospital, he wasn't there to witness it. He raced through the empty streets, feeling a painful fatigue himself, and swerved when a person tried to throw himself in front of the car. The car rolled and ended up in a filthy river that was clogged up with infected creatures. Fish grown gigantic, frogs gushing blood from the eyes, all kinds of atrocities. He was swept downstream as soon as he got the door open, and Ola (his mom) was torn from his arms. He soon passed out and didn't awaken for nearly a day.
Covered in muck, he didn't at first believe what had happened to his legs, but sure enough, he cleaned them off and found them fused, stretching far longer than his body, a huge, paper thin but strong tail end and various flippers and fins along the tail. His fingers were webbed and he found he could breathe and see underwater.
After swimming for days, living off of reeds and fish, he found a way to the Underground, not knowing anything about it yet. He was amazed to see an entire city, but right now his main concern was to find Ola, if she were still alive.
